Welcome to BIODAT!

The specimen based collection database BIODAT is a relational database designed to manage zoological collections, running on a MS SQL Server 7/2000. The establishment of BIODAT at the 'Zoologisches Forschungsinstitut und Museum Alexander Koenig' (ZFMK) in Bonn was launched as a long term project at the end of the eighties.

In the following, an overview is presented about both BIODAT's aims and functions and the degree of digitization of our collections.
